Thank You Thursday - Imagine! Celebration Edition

Today, we’d like to thank all of those involved with The Imagine! Celebration, held Friday, January 27, 2017. The event was a huge success. Although the numbers aren’t official yet, the preliminary total of what we brought in was more than $360,000! What a generous community we have!

The highlight of the evening was the debut of a video telling the story of Miah, a remarkable young woman who accepts services from Imagine!. Check it out below.

Here are some other highlights.

Some of the audience members were first timers, and not very familiar with Imagine!, so we shared the short video below, which provides an overview of our services.

Continuing our efforts to explore how we can use social media to share our story and the stories of the people we serve, we took our first dip into the Facebook Live pool. Below is video from that Facebook Live feed of Imagine! Foundation Board of Directors Charles Holmes starting the evening out right.

And here’s a Facebook Live video of Miah speaking after the audience was introduced to her touching story via the video above.

The Imagine! Foundation would like to thank: our Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Table event sponsors; the 480+ attendees who bid on silent and live auction items so generously; the volunteers on the Imagine! Celebration committee who worked so hard to create a magical evening; and the many Imagine! employees who volunteered to help out in so many ways.

The Imagine! Celebration is a reminder of how fortunate we are to live in a community that is so supportive of our work. It also a reminder that all of us at Imagine! must remain ever vigilant in ensuring that we continue to meet their high expectations as we work to create a world of opportunity for all abilities.

Thank You, Lafayette Knights of Columbus

Last week, the Knights of Columbus Council 05237, from Lafayette, presented a check for $4,500 to help support Imagine!’s Dayspring Community Calendar Activities. Imagine! Foundation Executive Director Patti Micklin was delighted to be on hand to receive the funds from these good Knights.

Dayspring’s Community Calendar Activities (CCA) program brings children aged 0-3 with developmental disabilities and delays (and their families) into community facilities such as recreation centers, dance studios, and children’s museums for group play, educational opportunities, and fitness activities with the support of an Imagine! Pediatric Occupational Therapist and an Early Childhood Special Educator. Each session is geared toward encouraging motor, sensory, social, emotional, cognitive, and/or speech and language development. As the Therapist and Educator assist the children, they model for parents the behaviors that encourage and support each child’s individual development in a community play setting. CCA helps build the confidence of parents as their children participate in activities in the community, while empowering community businesses and nonprofits to feel comfortable about welcoming children with special needs.

We are so thankful for the Lafayette Knights for their longtime support of this vital program.

Thank You Thursday

Today, we’d like to offer a big shout out to the South Boulder Lucky’s Market. As we mentioned before, thanks to many of you voting online, Imagine! was selected as one of this quarter’s Lucky’s Bags For Change partners!

For our readers who live in the area, we’d sure appreciate it if you were to make a shopping trip or two to Lucky’s (located at 695 S Broadway St. in Boulder) over the next couple of months so you can participate in this fun and environmentally way to support our mission of creating a world of opportunity for all abilities.

Here’s how it works: when shoppers bring in their reusable bags, they can choose to receive $.10 back per bag credit or donate that amount to one of the three Bags For Change partners, including Imagine!. Even better: when a shopper donates, Lucky’s Market will match the donation and double the giving to the nonprofits! Make sure you bring in your reusable bag so you can start dropping dimes to support the three partners.

Thanks Lucky’s for your demonstrated commitment to your community, and thanks in advance to all of you who help out by shopping at Lucky’s South Boulder!
