Thanks, MOOV!

Today we’d like to offer our sincere thanks to MOOV, who hosted a “Kettlebell Swing-a-Thon” this past Saturday to raise money for Imagine!. Donations/pledges were made on a per-swing basis, and there was a whole lotta swinging going on! Participants swung their kettle bells in support of Imagine! to the tune of $4,187. Wow!

Thanks, Moov, for your demonstrated support of your community and all of its citizens!

Tebo Holiday Party Embraces The Spirit Of Giving

Stephen Tebo, a longtime supporter and good friend of Imagine!, hosted his annual holiday party last Friday. Part of his holiday tradition is to have guests bring gifts to the party to support local non-profit organizations, and once again this year, Imagine! was one of the fortunate recipients. The gifts will be used for our Holiday Gift Giving Drive, which provides gifts to local individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Check out the pictures below to see just some of the amazing gifts donated. Even Santa would be impressed!

Colorado Gives Day is today, and it is a great opportunity to support everyone's potential through a donation to Imagine!.

The Colorado Gives Day $1 Million Incentive Fund will boost your donation, making your dollars do more to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Incentive Fund is a pool of dollars, provided by Community First Foundation and FirstBank, to boost every donation made through ColoradoGives.org on Colorado Gives Day. For example, if Imagine! receives 10% of the total donations made on Colorado Gives Day, Imagine! also receives 10% of the $1 Million Incentive Fund.

Thank You, Mercury Payment Systems

Today we’d like to say “thank you” to Mercury Payment Systems for their generous grant of $5,000 to the Imagine! Foundation for Imagine!’s Case Management Emergency Fund program.

Through the Emergency Fund, Imagine! provides limited financial assistance to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) meet urgent or extraordinary needs not covered by Medicaid or other funding sources. Examples of approved expenses include mental health services, extraordinary medical bills, respite care during times of upheaval, IV sedation for dental procedures, short-term housing for clients at risk of homelessness, and home modifications for clients with decreasing mobility.

Since the Case Management Emergency Fund exists specifically to respond to exceptional needs for which other sources of funding are not available, it is vitally important in enabling Imagine! to serve those at their time of greatest need. We are most appreciative of Mercury's support of the program.

Mercury Payment Systems works with thousands of resellers and developers to offer small and medium size businesses a comprehensive portfolio of integrated payment products and services that help control costs and increase revenue. By partnering with technology providers, they deliver payment processing technology to local merchants that is fast, secure, reliable, and affordable. Thank You, UPS Foundation

Imagine! recently received a $5,500 grant from the UPS Foundation, which drives global corporate citizenship and philanthropic programs for UPS.

The grant will be used for several purposes:

• To purchase a barrier free lift for one of Imagine!’s homes 
• To purchase a new dining room table for Imagine!’s Foothills home 
• Grills for Imagine!’s Santa Fe home and Charles Family SmartHome 
• A new chair for Imagine!'s Garden Place home

Established in 1951 and based in Atlanta, GA., The UPS Foundation identifies specific areas where its backing clearly impacts social issues. In support of this strategic approach, The UPS Foundation has identified the following focus areas for giving: volunteerism, diversity, community safety, and the environment.

In 2014, UPS and its employees, active and retired, invested more than $104.2 million in charitable giving around the world.

“The UPS Foundation is honored to support the Imagine! Foundation’s efforts to support individuals with intellectual disabilities,” said Eduardo Martinez, president of the UPS Foundation. “Our goal is to fund powerful programs that make a lasting difference to the global community.”

We greatly appreciate their support.

A Very Zolo Thanksgiving

Last Thursday, hundreds of individuals served by Imagine! and their families enjoyed an amazing Thanksgiving meal due to the generosity of Dave Query, Big Red F Restaurants, and Zolo Grill.

Everyone had a marvelous time, and the turnout was fantastic despite the bitter cold temperature outside. Several family members made a point to say how much this event means to them. Attendees also had the opportunity to make their own donations to the Imagine! Foundation, and contributed close to $700 to help us meet our mission. Amazing! It truly was a day of thanks and giving.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all who helped to make this happen, especially the Zolo staff members who volunteered their time and effort, to Imagine!’s volunteer coordinator Elizabeth Hill, who did a great job coordinating the event on Imagine!’s side, and to former Imagine! Foundation Executive Director Susan LaHoda for once again volunteering her entire day to work with the Zolo staff to ensure a wonderful day for everyone!

Imagine! Foundation Board of Directors member Priscilla Lacy volunteered to help serve the meals. She gave up her own time, working two full shifts, and was wonderful about talking to attendees and doing whatever was needed! She also shared some of the pictures featured here.

Zolo General Manager Brent Bedard with Zolo's Jen Soranson (Jen coordinated the event from the Zolo side). Both were great to work with, as always!

The Chef of the Day was Brett Smith, Executive Chef/Partner at The Post Brewing Co. Brett has long been an active supporter of the I/DD community.

Thank You Strider Bikes

Strider Sports International donated two Strider bikes to Imagine!’s Out & About department as part of their Rider Fund program. Last year, Strider donated a total of more than $300,000 through the Rider Fund, of which more than 75% went to individuals with special needs. Strider representative Marty Martinez even came out to Lafayette to give a clinic on the bikes for Out & About participants.

“Out & About is thrilled to have received the donation of two Strider bicycles to use in both Children and Adult programs,” said Megan McKean, Out & About Therapeutic Specialist. “We believe the use of these Strider bikes will help our participants increase balance, stability, and confidence. We are so thankful Strider has shared the learning tools with us to help our participants achieve success in this wonderful and fun experience.” To learn more about Strider’s bikes may benefit individuals with special needs, click here.

Jensen Guitar Company and The Willow River Music Emporium (pictured above are Don Jensen and Sandy Farnsworth) made a generous donation of a guitar to Imagine!’s Charles Family SmartHome as part of their "Gift of Music" Giveaway program. Music is a staple at the Charles Family SmartHome, and the new guitar will be a great addition. It's so heartwarming when a small local business gives back so generously, and we are most appreciative. In fact, the residents of the home created a “thank you” video for Jensen Guitar Company and The Willow River Music Emporium. Check it out below.

Kettlebells 4 Christmas Supports Imagine!

MOOV is hosting a “Kettlebell Swing-a-Thon” on Dec. 12, 2015 to raise money for Imagine!. Donations/pledges are on a per-swing basis (i.e. $0.25/swing). Participants will complete their swings between 1p and 4p on 12/12/2015 and will receive an email on their specific start time 24 hours prior to the event. Our muscles are burning just thinking about it!

MOOV was born out of boredom with the normal gym experience and a love for functional fitness and alternative therapies, and was founded by a team of fitness enthusiasts who wanted more from their training. Dan Garfinkle, the owner and manager of the awesomely named Finkle and Garf Brewery, was contacted by Imagine!’s Out & About department to chat about their “Thank Goodness Its Saturday (TGIS)” program and the possibility of the brewery hosting a few parents for a casual afternoon (after holiday shopping at Flatirons Crossing) of socializing on December 5th. Dan volunteered to host our parents from 2pm-4pm that afternoon and provide a few pitchers of beer.

Then, Dan made a surprise suggestion: "Let's make it bigger." Aside from donating pitchers of beer to TGIS for the parents with our group, he offered to donate 10% of net proceeds from December 5th to Out & About! We are so blown away by his generosity and cannot believe how awesome this is for Out & About!

So please support Dan and Out & About by heading to Finkle and Garf Brewery (5455 Spine Rd, Unit A, Boulder, CO 80301) for some outstanding craft beers on Saturday, December 5. We’ll see you there!

A Zolo Thanksgiving Treat

Today, we’d like to offer our sincere thanks to Dave Query, who is treating individuals served by Imagine! and their families to a traditional turkey dinner on Thanksgiving Day. This is the 12th year Query has hosted this event, which will again be at Zolo Southwestern Grill, 2525 Arapahoe Avenue, Boulder.

There are three seatings, and all three have been filled already! That means a lot of folks will be the recipients of Dave's generosity.

Dave is the owner of Big Red F Restaurant Group, including restaurants Centro Latin Kitchen, Jax Fish House – Boulder, Denver, Fort Collins, Glendale, and Kansas City, LoLa Coastal Mexican, Post Brewing Company, West End Tavern, and Zolo Grill. Dave is donating the makings for a delicious Zolo-style repast with all the trimmings, and the wait staff is volunteering its time. There is no charge for the meal, and no tips are necessary.

Today, we’d like to offer our sincere thanks to the Safeway Foundation for a grant that will help us implement more technology into our services.

With the generous support from the Safeway Foundation’s grant of $3,100, Imagine!’s CORE/Labor Source department will purchase electronic tablets, equipment and applications to help prepare participants for work assignments and to foster their success in specific jobs. Participants will use the electronic tablets in developing general skills to facilitate job placement, including reading and basic mathematics. The electronic tablets will also benefit participants in learning specific job-related skills to facilitate independence. Examples include task prompting, video reminders of the steps involved in certain tasks, and communication with offsite job coaches of changes in job duties. Ultimately, the end result are participants who are engaged, have increased self-worth, and an enhanced quality of life.
