Thank You, Lynn and Helen Clark Fund

The Lynn and Helen Clark Fund, administered by Guaranty Bank in Longmont, was created to benefit individuals living in the St. Vrain Valley School District. The Clarks established the fund to benefit local charities in 1993. Since then, it has distributed almost $3 million to support our community.

Recently, Imagine! received a $2,500 grant from the Lynn and Helen Clark Fund to support individuals we serve in Longmont who experience a financial urgent or extraordinary need not covered by Medicaid or other funding sources. This is the ninth year the Lynn and Helen Clark Fund has supported Imagine!’s Case Management Emergency Fund, and we are so appreciative of their continued support of their community and all of its citizens.

Thank You, J.M. McDonald Foundation

Today, we’d like to say “thank you” to the J.M. McDonald Foundation, Inc., for its recent grant of $5,000 to Imagine! to build a wheelchair accessible shower at our Foothills Group Home.

The J.M. McDonald Foundation, Inc. was created in 1952 by Mr. J. M. McDonald. Over the past 60 years, Trustees of the Foundation have sought to uphold J. M.'s desire to improve education and social programs.

This is not the first time that the J.M. McDonald Foundation, Inc. has supported Imagine!’s goal of using a variety of technologies to improve the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities. In past years, the Foundation has made generous grants to support the Bob and Judy Charles SmartHome in Boulder, the Charles Family SmartHome in Longmont, the Santa Fe/Next Step Group Home in Broomfield, and the Imagine! CORE/Labor Source Technology Lab.

Thank you, J.M. McDonald Foundation, Inc. for your continued support of Imagine! and the people we serve!

Thank You, Strider Bikes

Last Friday, Imagine!’s Out & About and Dayspring departments received a donation of ten Strider Bikes at the Strider World Cup Championship, held at Boulder’s Central Park.

Not only were the Strider folks incredibly generous with their donation, but Strider CEO Ryan McFarland even helped us load the bikes into our van!

Strider bikes are excellent for helping to teach some of the young children we serve who have physical and developmental disabilities to learn to ride, and to experience the joy and freedom that come with it. We are most appreciative to Strider for their continued generous support of Imagine! and our programs.

Thank You, Virginia W. Hill Foundation

Today, we’d like to thank The Virginia W. Hill Foundation for its recent grant of $10,000 to support Imagine!’s Dayspring department’s Community Calendar Activities (CCA) program. We very much appreciate the Foundation’s support of this valuable extension of our early intervention services for young children with developmental disabilities or delays.

Through CCA, Imagine!’s early childhood special educators and pediatric occupational therapists work with babies and toddlers during group play and fitness activities in community settings, encouraging motor, sensory, social, emotional, cognitive, and speech and language development. CCA enhances the impact of direct therapies during a critical window in human development, thereby increasing the chances that these vulnerable children will “catch up” to their age peers. In addition, the program provides the children’s families both an introduction to appropriate activities in their communities and the confidence to access them independently.

Because no federal or state funds are available for CCA and it relies completely on community support, this generous grant is very important and much appreciated.

The Virginia W. Hill Foundation, managed by Wells Fargo, was established by the late Virginia Hill, a noted Denver philanthropist. Mrs. Hill was known in her lifetime for her charitable giving to better the lives of people living in the American West. She was, for example, a major donor in the early 1960's to the restoration of Ft. Laramie. In recent years, Mrs. Hill's Foundation has contributed significantly to improving the health—especially the mental health—of people living in the Denver Metropolitan area.

We are extremely grateful to The Virginia W. Hill Foundation’s continued support of young children and families in our community.

Thank You, AEC Trust

Today we’d like to offer our sincere thanks to the AEC Trust, which recently provided the Imagine! Foundation with a $10,000 grant to help support Imagine!’s Dayspring department’s Community Calendar Activities program.

Dayspring’s Community Calendar Activities introduces families with young children who have developmental disabilities or delays to places in our community that offer great activities and opportunities for children to meet their goals through fun and play. All activities encourage motor, sensory, social-emotional, cognitive, and speech-language development.

Each location has activities that are age and developmentally appropriate. Activities are centered around play, because play is the primary vehicle for a child’s mental and physical growth. Play has a vital role in cognitive, speech-language, physical, emotional and social development.

Much of young children’s learning takes place when they direct their own play. Learning occurs as children touch, manipulate, experiment and talk about things, while interacting with people who facilitate without directing. During play, children are provided with sensory experiences and opportunities to move. Young children need to climb, run, jump and challenge themselves motorically. Children are natural explorers and instinctively touch, taste, hear, and observe the world around them.

The AEC Trust is a private foundation established in 1980 as a philanthropic, grantmaking organization. Funding has traditionally focused on arts and culture; education; environment; and health and human services.

Thank you, AEC Trust, for providing opportunities for young children with developmental disabilities and delays to engage with their communities in meaningful and valuable ways!
