Thank You, Imagine! Celebration Donors

Transportation is so vital to Imagine!. If we want to provide the individuals we serve opportunities to participate in and contribute to our community, we need to be sure they can travel throughout the community. The RAV4 pictured below, for Out & About children’s program, was made possible by the tremendous generosity of guests attending the 2018 Imagine! Celebration. Guests raised their paddles to support Imagine!’s Out & About children’s therapeutic recreation program, bringing in $175,000 in support. This vehicle is just one of the many ways donors’ gifts are impacting the lives of those we serve.

Imagine! Wins “Your Story” Award

Imagine! is honored to have been selected winner of The Longmont Community Foundation’s “Your Story” contest.

As winners, we received a $750 award, and will be featured on the Longmont Community Foundation’s website and social media sites. We are honored to be selected, and thank the Longmont Community Foundation for its longtime support of Imagine! and the individuals we serve.

The award winning story and photo are below.

Longmont resident Gillian takes part in Imagine!’s “Horsin’ Around” class, where participants with intellectual disabilities learn how to build relationships with the horses, care for them, and ride them. Like all of Imagine!’s services, “Horsin’ Around” is community-based and designed to enhance the quality of life of people like Gillian. Community-based services enable people with disabilities to be included in society, as well as enriching communities by encouraging acceptance of all.

Thank You, Longmont Community Foundation

Today we’d like to thank the Longmont Community Foundation for its generous grant of $1,900 for Imagine! CORE/Labor Source programs based in Longmont.

The Longmont Community Foundation has supported Imagine! in so many ways over the years, and we remain so grateful for all they do to promote the potential of Longmont citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Pictured below are Imagine! Foundation Executive Director Patti Micklin and Imagine! Ambassador Extraordinaire (and former Longmont mayor) Leona Stoecker at the Longmont Community Foundation event where the grant was announced.

Thank You, Timberline PK-8

Today we’d like to offer a huge “thank you” to the students, teachers and administrators at Longmont’s Timberline PK-8 school for donating $420.25 to support Imagine!’s mission.

The fundraiser was called “Feed the Pigs.” The kids had to bring coins to feed piggy container (pictured below). Each container was for a different grade level. There was a contest of which grade would earn the most coins. The prize for elementary was extra recess, and the 5th grade won. The prize for middle school was a hat day, and the 6th grade won.

We love it when some of our community’s youngest citizens reach out to help create a world of opportunity for all abilities, and thank the good folks at Timberline for their amazing generosity.

Special thanks also to Belinda Chirinos (pictured below with her son and Imagine! Foundation Executive Director Patti Micklin), a former Imagine! employee who helped to facilitate this wonderful donation!

Thank You, Church of the Beloved

Today we’d like to offer our sincere thanks to members of Northglenn’s Church of the Beloved for their donations to meet needs on Imagine!’s Wish List. Last month, the church reached out to the Imagine! Foundation about having Imagine! as the recipient of their members’ Lenten tithe – and wow, did they come through!

Church members donated sports equipment, art supplies, technology, music, and other items to support Imagine!’s Dayspring, Out & About, and Innovations programs. In fact, they donated enough items to fill up an entire conference room table!

These donations will make a significant difference in Imagine!’s efforts toward creating a world of opportunity for all abilities, and we are so appreciative.

Thank You Thursday

Two fun "thank yous" today.

Last month, Annie Gray and Dany Tanguay reached out to help Imagine! raise funds during our annual Imagine! Celebration. Annie and Dany frequent a local knitting group and learned about Imagine! through fellow knitters. These two ladies personally knitted warm gear for the gala’s silent auction. Between the large blanket, cowl, and several winter hats, Imagine! raised $435.

We are so thankful to Dany and Annie, and we invited them to share their stories on what a healthy community means to them, and why they chose to help Imagine!.

Dany
“Once I learned of the auction, I knew I wanted to do something for Imagine!. I've learned over the last year or so how much of an impact Imagine! has had in the community and how much it has helped people, including a very dear friend of mine.

I see a community as a place where individuals can live comfortably and have the ability to surround themselves with people that care. It's knowing where you can get help if needed (or give help), and knowing that if you are lost someone out there can point you in the right direction.”

Annie
"I have a good friend who received a grant through Imagine! for her son. Learning that Imagine! helps local families in a meaningful way is what drove me to donate. I support other transparent charity organizations, but as a new mother, Imagine! resonated deeply with me.

I started the blanket on Jan 20 and finished knitting, washing, and drying on Jan 25. The last two days were a knitting marathon! My son helped me out by taking some good long naps toward the end.

My idea of a healthy community is empathy and caring. You can’t go wrong truly caring for a neighbor and being there for them. While we can’t all financially support everyone, love, understanding, and friendship are free.

As a second generation Korean-American, I had the unique opportunity to see a community of first generation Korean immigrants support one another in a new country. Spiritually, they had the church. Financially, every member donated to a pot. When one member in their community faced a huge hardship, such as a theft or damage to their business, or sudden medical emergency, the money pot was given to them. Then my parents and community members would build up the pot again to take care of the next person with future hardships.

I see Imagine! as a more modernized improvement on this system and I'm happy to have helped in any way. I plan to continue for many more years."
