Thank You, Safeway

Today, we’d like to offer our sincere thanks to Safeway.

On Sunday, July 26, representatives from Imagine! were given the opportunity to interact with shoppers and share information about Imagine! and our CORE/Labor Source program at the Safeway located on 2798 Arapahoe in Boulder (see pictures below).

Safeway also sold hot dogs and other items to passersby, and Imagine! received a generous portion of the proceeds!

We are grateful to partner with Safeway in many ways. They employ many of the people who accept services from us and have even provided grants for iPads for Imagine! in the past. This event was just one more way that they have helped us, offering us the chance to reach more people in the community and let them know about Imagine!, our mission, and the incredible contributions the individuals we serve are bringing to their community every day.

Thank you, Safeway, for your continued support of your community!

Imagine! In The Community

This coming Sunday, July 26, representatives of Imagine! will be out in the community at two separate events, sharing our story and the many successes of the individuals who accept services from us. If you are in Boulder, stop by and say “hi” at:

From noon-4:00 PM, the Boulder Public Library, the City of Boulder Parks and Recreation's EXPAND Program, and The Center for People With Disabilities will be hosting a celebration honoring the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Events will take place on the Boulder Civic Area lawn and in the meeting spaces at the library. There will be exhibits, music, movies, and more. Imagine! will have an information table at the event, so join us there to celebrate the empowerment and greater quality of life for all Americans since the passage of the ADA.

From 3:00-7:00 PM, representatives from Imagine! will be interacting with shoppers and sharing information about Imagine! and our CORE/Labor Source program at the Safeway on 2798 Arapahoe in Boulder. Summer Concert At The SmartHome

Today we’d like to give a shout out and thank you to Stephen Beal. Stephen put on a classical concert last week at the Charles Family SmartHome as part of the “Innovations Summer Concert Series.” Charles Family SmartHome supervisor Russ Christiansen has organized this opportunity for local musicians to bring music to the individuals at many of Imagine!’s group homes over several weeks during the summer months. Stephen's concert at the Charles Family SmartHome was a huge hit, and we so appreciate his willingness to share his time and talent!

Thank You, Lynn and Helen Clark Fund

The Lynn and Helen Clark Fund, administered by Guaranty Bank in Longmont, was created to benefit individuals living in the St. Vrain Valley School District. The Clarks established the fund to benefit local charities in 1993. Since then, it has distributed almost $3 million to support our community.

Recently, Imagine! received a $2,000 grant from the Lynn and Helen Clark Fund to support individuals we serve in Longmont who experience a financial urgent or extraordinary need not covered by Medicaid or other funding sources. This is the sixth year the Lynn and Helen Clark Fund has supported Imagine!’s Case Management Emergency Fund – we couldn’t do it without them!

Thank You, AEC Trust

Today we’d like to offer our sincere thanks to the AEC Trust, which recently provided the Imagine! Foundation with a $10,000 grant to help support Imagine!’s Dayspring department’s Community Calendar Activities program.

Dayspring’s Community Calendar Activities introduces families with young children who have developmental disabilities or delays to places in our community that offer great activities and opportunities for children to meet their goals through fun and play. All activities encourage motor, sensory, social-emotional, cognitive, and speech-language development.

Each location has activities that are age and developmentally appropriate. Activities are centered around play, because play is the primary vehicle for a child’s mental and physical growth. Play has a vital role in cognitive, speech-language, physical, emotional and social development.

Much of young children’s learning takes place when they direct their own play. Learning occurs as children touch, manipulate, experiment and talk about things, while interacting with people who facilitate without directing. During play, children are provided with sensory experiences and opportunities to move. Young children need to climb, run, jump and challenge themselves motorically. Children are natural explorers and instinctively touch, taste, hear, and observe the world around them.

The AEC Trust is a private foundation established in 1980 as a philanthropic, grantmaking organization. Funding has traditionally focused on arts and culture; education; environment; and health and human services.

Thank you, AEC Trust, for providing opportunities for young children with developmental disabilities and delays to engage with their communities in meaningful and valuable ways!

Annual CORE/Labor Source Art Show And Performance Set For July 17

Since 2008, Imagine!’s CORE/Labor Source (CLS) program has held an annual celebration at the Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder, where artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities share their artistic expressions. This year’s theme for the live performances and exhibits is “originality,” and consists of original compositions of choreography, poetry, song, and original interpretations of well-loved works that many will recognize. We are all very excited, and cannot wait to enjoy the artistic expressions that await us on July 17.

The CLS art show begins at 6:00 PM, and the live performances begin at 7:00 PM. We hope that we will see you there!
