Imagine! Stats

Today, we are pleased to share highlights of Imagine!’s most recently ended fiscal year (FY 2013-2104). Over the course of the year, Imagine! provided case management or service coordination for a total of 2,972 individuals throughout Boulder and Broomfield Counties. More than 900 (30%) of people served by Imagine! were babies and toddlers with developmental delays; the rest were children, youth, and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Imagine! also provided a range of direct services to these individuals.

Here’s a breakdown of some of those services:

Imagine!’s Family Support division:
  • Provided information and referrals to more than 1,400 families providing at-home care for an individual with I/DD.
  • Provided financial support to the families of 60 children with extraordinary needs arising from I/DD and physical disabilities who were waitlisted for Medicaid-funded services.
  • Helped parents of 60 children with autism spectrum disorders to select and pay for services such as psychological counseling, behavioral therapy, or social skills coaching.
Imagine!’s Innovations division:
  • Supervised foster placements and care for 29 children whose special needs could not be met by their birth parents.
  • Provided a variety of residential services – responsive to individual needs and capabilities – to 194 adults with I/DD. This number included 28 individuals who required round-the-clock, hands-on staff supports.
Imagine!’s Dayspring division:
  • Helped 315 babies and toddlers with developmental delays to improve their communication, motor, and/or social skills through early intervention therapies.
Imagine!’s Out & About division:
  • Assisted 48 school-aged children with I/DD in learning vital socialization skills to help them to participate more fully in society, while affording their parents the peace of mind that comes with safe and appropriate childcare during work hours, through Summer Camp, After School, and School Closure Day programs.
  • Promoted the safety, growth, and development of 158 local adults with I/DD by giving them access to special outings and activities in the community.
Imagine!’s CORE/Labor Source division:
  • Provided job training, placement, coaching, and supervision for 123 adults with I/DD.
  • Fostered the growth, development, and safety of 205 adults with I/DD through enriching and therapeutic day programs and classes.
Imagine!’s Behavioral Health Services (IBHS):
  • Provided comprehensive mental health services to 210 individuals with dual (mental illness and I/DD) diagnoses.
  • Provided a broad range of behavioral health services to 87 individuals, and educated their parents and caregivers about ways to build cooperative behavior.
Thank you to all of our supporters. We couldn't do what we do without their help!

Wish Granted!

The Imagine! Foundation’s Wish List is an effort to increase opportunities for donations that will help Imagine! meet its mission. The Wish List includes items that would augment and enhance Imagine! programs for the individuals we serve.

Today we’d like to thank Bob and Judy Charles for granting one of our wishes! The pair, who have been generous supporters of Imagine! since the inception of the Imagine! Foundation, recently donated a garden shed for Imagine!’s 19th St. Group Home. You can see a picture of Site Supervisor Anna Knott posing with the new shed below. A cool feature of the shed: the top slides back like a car moon roof so you can access the contents easier.

Thank you, Bob and Judy, for once again demonstrating your commitment to improving the lives of the individuals we serve!

Thank You, City Of Lafayette, CO

Today, we’d like to say “thanks” to the City of Lafayette, CO for its generous $1,500 grant to Imagine! as part of the One Lafayette grant program. The funds will go toward Imagine!’s Case Management Emergency Fund for individuals living in Lafayette.

Through the Emergency Fund, Imagine! provides limited financial assistance to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) meet urgent or extraordinary needs not covered by Medicaid or other funding sources. Examples of approved expenses include mental health services, extraordinary medical bills, respite care during times of upheaval, IV sedation for dental procedures, short-term housing for clients at risk of homelessness, and home modifications for clients with decreasing mobility.

This year, the State of Colorado broadened its definition of intellectual and developmental disabilities and pledged to increase the funding it provides for some services for people with I/DD. Imagine! is in the process of ramping up its Case Management and direct service staff to handle the projected 200-300 additional individuals who will now be eligible to receive services in our area. The Case Management Emergency Fund exists specifically to respond to exceptional needs for which other sources of funding are not available. The project is therefore a small – but essential – part of Imagine!'s services. As the overall client base grows, the demand for Emergency Fund support is expected to grow proportionately, so this grant is timely and vital.

This is our fourth One Lafayette grant, bringing the total to $4,500. All were for the Emergency Fund.

Thank you, City of Lafayette, for your continued commitment to the health, safety, and well being of all members of your community!

Thank You, Longmont Legacy

Today, we’d like to say “Thank You” to Longmont Legacy, a charitable fund of the Longmont Community Foundation, for their grant of $1,100 for Imagine! Family Support Grants for children living in Longmont.

Family Support Grants help pay for the extraordinary costs of caring for a family member who has a developmental disability. Funds may be used to help pay for respite care, professional services, medical and dental senses, transportation, assistive technology, home modifications, and parent and sibling support.

Anyone who has a family member with a developmental disability knows how difficult it can be to pay for some of these expenses, and these grants can make a huge difference.

The members of the Longmont Legacy are a group of individuals and couples joining together in a common purpose – to improve youth and education in the St. Vrain Valley region. This group started in 2003 and has funded programs from childhood through college.

This is Longmont Legacy’s second grant in a row to Imagine! for Family Support Grants and it’s just one of the many ways the Longmont Community Foundation has supported Imagine!'s work in Longmont over the years. That support is vital. Last year, Imagine! served more than 1,070 people living in Longmont, and the need continues to grow.

The name Longmont Legacy is so appropriate, because through their support we are working towards making Longmont a happy and healthy community for years to come!
